Executive Producer Mickey Markoff shares insights on why he’s married to the mission of the Air and Sea Show and importance of paying tribute to our nation’s heroes.

In the modern world, there is often talk about ‘work life balance’. As we become more connected, and live in our ‘always on’ society, it is no surprise that we’re more aware of the importance of balancing our priorities. This is undoubtedly essential for our well-being. When we have this conversation, it is all too common that we make a clear distinction between our “work” and our “life”. But what if those two things are inextricably intertwined?

When you are passionate about your work, it’s only natural for it to seep into other aspects of your life. Executive Producer of the Hyundai Air and Sea Show, Mickey Markoff, is familiar with being married to his job.

Mickey Markoff has been in the industry for decades, helping to organize world-class events across the United States. While being ‘married to the job’ may seem like an extreme commitment to some, it is simply dedication to paying homage to our nation’s heroes and working for something beyond the self. For those who are not familiar with the Hyundai Air and Sea Show, it is a massive event that takes place in Miami Beach, Florida every year. The show attracts hundreds of thousands of people who come to watch some of the most talented pilots and sailors in the world perform incredible feats. It is a spectacle like no other, and a legacy for Mickey Markoff and his team with The National Salute to America’s Heroes.

For Mickey, being the Executive Producer of such a large event is no small feat. It requires all hands on deck-including the team at MDM Group, National Salute to America’s Heroes, and of course, the coordination with our armed forces, sponsors, and non-profits which help enrich the weekend events.

A common phrase for the married is, “Happy wife, happy life”. For Mickey Markoff, the partner he’s found in the Air and Sea Show is a great one. Helping bring to life such an important event and sharing it with the world has provided a deep sense of fulfilment for him, his family, and his team. With each year, the event has grown in size and scope, and continues to evolve with more exhibitions and activities. The 2023 show has a new feature, The U.S. Army SaluteFest™, which will take place on Saturday, May 27th, showcasing the Army’s top tech innovations and careers. The event will also feature three A-list musical acts, an interactive display village, a 500-piece drone show, and a fireworks extravaganza. Throughout the years, Mickey Markoff has seen the importance of building a strong community of dedicated people. It is with the help of this community that he has been able to bring on the new features.
